It is fall fishing at its finest on the Big Hole River.  On November  3 and again on the 5th we fished the stretch between Divide Bridge and Maiden Rock.  On the 3rd we had two boats and on the 5th we waded into some productive spots.  The brown trout are in full spawn and predictably aggressive.  The rainbows are also plentiful and as sporty as usual.  It is truly a great time to fish that river.  Water clarity and flow is perfect and the weather is crisp but comfortable.  Both days the action was fast with the fish taking Pat’s  Stone, egg patterns and San Juan Worms.  Late in the day, we also had good production on streamers. The fish are extraordinarily colorful this time of year and photo opportunities abound.  We had a great bonus just upstream from the Maiden Rock boat launch when one of the boats landed a beautiful 15 inch grayling.  Folks that have not experienced the Big Hole River in October and November are missing a great experience.  We fished two days and never saw another boat or fisherman.  Having that river to yourself is pretty special.
