Clark Canyon Reservoir over 100% full and it looks as though it’s still climbing providing us a substantial amount of water for the remainder of the season.  We are on the edge of PMD’s exploding in great numbers, and not far behind are the sallies and with that comes some great dry fly fishing.  The fish are in great shape and the big fish numbers, 18″ +, are as good as we’ve seen them in years.  Small split backs in black and olive, along with sulphur colored PMD nymphs have been our bugs of choice the last week.  Caddis are coming off in greater numbers as the days wears on, and we saw some fish taking emergers and duns later in the day just above Buffalo Bridge.

Friday July 11 was the most phenomenal day of fishing in my life and I have been fishing for a long time. Jeanie has not been fishing long but her skills were improved by a factor of 5 under your companys guideship. We fished from the Clark dam down to the high bridge on the Beaverhead. The trip took about 8 hours. In that time we caught about 50 Brown and Rainbow trout each ranging in size from 17 to 22 inches. After a couple of double hook-ups, the guide (jokeingly) said one of you is going to have to sit down while the other fishes. About 4 o’clock, there was a boat about 30 feet downstream that stopped fishing and watched us in open mouthed amazement. I was sitting down after Jeanie hooked a big brown. After she landed it, I started to get up and the guide just tossed her hook in the water and another brown took it. After it was landed I started to get up and the guide asked her to toss it over toward the left bank and she brought in another on the first cast. I finally got up and started catching more fish. Not three in a row but decent in size and frequency.
