Lamar a Cory with a nice Rainbow just above High Bridge

Lamar a Cory with a nice Rainbow just above High Bridge

We closed out July with a bang by fishing the upper portion of the Beaverhead, from the dam to High Bridge both days.  In one report we claimed that the Beaverhead was currently the best fishery in North America.  I am ready to expand that to world status because the fishing is truly world class. The quality of the fish is superior and the frequency of hook-ups is staggering, literally.  Yesterday we hooked up over twenty times the first hour of fishing.  Our landing efficiency was weak early on but we finally started getting these big browns and rainbows in the net with acceptable frequency.  Landing these three to five pound fish on size 20 hooks is a challenge for most people.  Yesterday they were eating split back, half backs, hunch backs and later in the day the soft hackle red ass.  Had good hatches of PMD’s and yellow Sallys coming off so we fished dry flies near mid way with good success and some really violent takes followed by heated battles between man and fish.  It simply does not get any better than this.
