Beaverhead River Fishing Report

Epic Day on the Beav!

All I can say about the day today on the Beaverhead River is that it was EPIC.  Once in a few years do we as anglers get lucky enough to stumble upon a specific stretch of river that is undoubtedly on fire.  Today was that day for us at Tight Line Adventures.  For a period of five hours, it seemed as if every fish in the river was eating at the same time.  Our entire stretch was loaded with big browns taking SJW’s and sow bugs as fast as we could get them drifted down river.  If the Beav has the 4,000 fish per mile FWP says it does, I swear all of them were eating at once all day long.  Countless double hookups, numerous times when each cast took a fish in sequence, and at times we were hauling them in just as fast as we could so we could get the line back in the water to do it again!  Both clients agreed that it was the best day they’ve ever had on the water, and I can attest that after a lifetime spent in Montana as a fisherman, I have never seen anything like what happened today on the Beaverhead River.  How many fish did we catch?  To be honest I couldn’t tell you, and I wouldn’t want to.  All I know is that there was never a time when someone didn’t have fish on within a few minutes of the previous fish that had just been landed.  Will this happen again?  Sure it will.  But will it happen to me, or these two lucky anglers?  Only time will tell, and the only way to find out is to keep on fishing.  But until that time, the memory of today will forever be burned into our memory as the best day of fishing any of us has ever been a part of.

Nice fishing report. I can feel the excitement through your words. I give you an A+ for bragging in a professional way. Too many guides and outfitters are wrapped up in #’s and such, let your clients do the bragging and appreciate the day just as you have done. I know from your report that it is a day to remember, but you appreciated it immensely. Good for you, Hope that tomorrow brings the same result.
