A Montana Fishing Story – March 29, 2010

The following is a true? story from a river bank in Montana…

A Jack Daniels Fishing Story

I went fishing last night during a full moon but after a short time I ran out of my favorite streamers. Then I saw a rattlesnake with a mouse in his mouth. Mice are good big trout bait during a full moon too.  Knowing the snake couldn’t bite me with the mouse in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the mouse, and put it in my fly box.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth.  His eyes rolled back and he went limp. I released him into the river without incident and carried on fishing using the mouse.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same snake with two mice in his mouth. Life is good in Montana!
