Guiding Philosophy
What to expect when fishing with Tight Line Adventures
Your satisfaction is our number one goal. At the end of the day, we want to provide you with an experience that makes you want to come back and fish with us again. To accomplish that, we feel that by providing the following will help reach our ultimate goal
Be a part of the experience
When you go down the river with us we want you to become more than just a fisherman listening to the guide. While performing the tasks instructed by the guide is an extremely important part of increasing the odds of a successful trip, our guides are more than willing to entertain questions, comments, ideas, or thoughts you may have about your time on the water.
Continued Success
By becoming a part of the fishing experience, we are confident you’ll be able to take what you’ve learned and implement some of new techniques or strategies on your home water for continued success outside of Montana.
Fishing as well as Teaching
Many times we’ve found that our clients leave as pretty good fisherman, only to return the next year as though it’s their first time ever holding a fly rod. TLA understands that unless you fish often it is easy to lose the ability to fish fluidly, and that often they have a 360 day break from the last time they touched a fly rod. We want to do our best to teach you the reasons why we throw a reach mend while fishing dries on the Big Hole, why we water haul the pogo rig on the Beaverhead, and why a good mend will catch you more fish than the right bug. As they say, if you can teach it, then you know it.
Building a bank of knowledge
One of the greatest rewards we can receive as a guide is when a return client steps in our boat and begins dissecting the water in search of trout. On day one they may have waited for us to tell them where to fish or just placed their line in the water without thought as to why they are fishing that particular area. But after a few times down the river the angler starts to get “fishy”, and begins thinking like a trout. It is this act that lets us know the client has absorbed some knowledge over the years and can take that knowledge and pass it along to friends and family, and continue to be successful in waters world wide.
Fishing with family
Your time spent with us on the water should feel as comfortable as the times spent with great friends and family. We often tell people that good rod karma can catch more fish than expert angling, and have seen novice fisherman out-fish veteran anglers because they are relaxed and having a good time. So relax, unwind, and let’s go chase some trout!
